Came across a performer from London called Claire Mee. She has had a busking career quite similar to the one I enjoyed until fairly recently - though she has been far more succesful as a professional musician.
Claire Mee takes a very similar attitude as me towards the tactics of busking, and a delight in travelling round various towns. I'm tentatively thinking about a book on the subject, so I have made contact with her to see if we can compare notes.
I see on her website that she's thinking about visiting Hereford, Winchester, Gloucester, Evesham etc - towns that were all in my patch in another time...
