Briton Ferry Woods (Traditional cache)

Briton Ferry is a small town nestled in a very busy part of south Wales. It is wedged in between Neath, Swansea and Port Talbot and the surrounding industrial sprawl. It is guarded to the east by some steep hillsides and trees, and this is where I headed late on Saturday afternoon.

Indeed, I do recognise that pylons have some engineering merit. I remember being fascinated with this when I watched a children's documentary on TV a a small boy. A few years ago, I was amused to find a site called 'pylon of the month', which seems to have been discontinued since 2001. Nevertheless, I hereby submit my entry for March 2007.
I parked my car and started my ascent up into Briton Ferry Woods, a Forestry Commission site. After a momentary unwelcome encounter with a kid who was wondering what I was doing with my yellow GPS, I headed to the cache site. For a moment, it looked as though it was goiung to be a tough hike over felled trees and heathland, similar to Cannock Chase. However I found an easy path around to the cache site.
