Ar Daith / On Tour: 2011

Roedd y cyfnod Hydref-Rhagfyr 2011 yn dipyn o drobwynt. Cyn hynny, roeddwn wedi bod yn gwneud tipyn o golled ariannol ar y delyn, ac roedd wedi dechrau mynd yn dipyn o fwrn. Doeddwn i heb sylweddoli yn union faint o waith caled roedd yn rhaid gwneud ar y ffôn er mwyn sicrhau rhaglen cynhwysfawr o gigs. Ond, llwyddwyd i newid y sefyllfa er gwell, gyda’r gobaith o ddatblygu ymhellach yn 2012. Roedd dau uchafbwynt perfformio eleni: y naill wrth gystadlu ar lwyfan yr Eisteddfod Genedlaethol yn Nhlws Coffa John Weston Thomas, sef rhywbeth y dylwn i fod wedi rhoi cynnig arni blynyddoedd ynghynt. Yr ail uchafbwynt oedd yn Nhafarn y Llong, Llangrannog, ym mis Tachwedd. Yno, bues i’n chwarae o flaen un o’m hoff grwpiau gwerin, Yr Hwntws. Cafwyd hefyd tri sesiwn radio byw, ac erthygl yng Nghychgrawn Golwg i nodi 20 mlynedd ers fod yn delynor.

The period October-December 2011 was a bit of a turning point. Previously, I had been making financial losses on the harp, and the work had been starting to be a strain. I simply hadn’t realised the extent of work on the phone that was needed in order to sustain a programme of gigs. However, I managed to reverse this situation, and was hopeful of further progress in 2012. There were two performance highlights this year. First, performing in the John Weston Thomas memorial competition, which was something that I really should have done years ago. The second highlight was performing in the Ship Inn, Llangrannog, as a support fot one of my favourite bands, Yr Hwntws, in November. I also had three live radio sessions, and an article in Golwg magazine to mark 20 years of being a harpist.
