A brief blog to note that Shrewsbury Town will be playing their last match at Gay Meadow tonight. I've been there a few times, it's a pretty little ground in the heart of the town, next to the river Severn. They employed a bloke in a coracle to fish out errant footballs from the river.I've passed their new ground a few times on the train. It's on the south side of the town. It's very smart but will, of course, lose the charm of Gay Meadow.
As it happens, Shrewsbury's game tonight is against the despised MK Dons (Franchise FC). Would be fitting if the Shrews can condemn Franchize to another year in the bottom tier of the league...
