Geo-acheivement coins

One of the more interesting geocoins are the "geo-acheivement" geocoins, which commemorate specific numbers of cache finds - 100, 250, 1000, 2000 etc.

I have resolved that if and when I reach any "geo-achievement" milestone, I will collect the appropriate geocoin. My port of call would be coinsandpins.com as they produce the geo-acheivement coins in a nifty velvet presentation box, including a replica enamel badge!!!

The 100 geo-achievement coin is represented on the personal geocaching.com profile with a red icon. Unfortunately the geocaching powers that be do not consider 50 finds to be a "geo-acheivement" worthy of a special coin.

Well, excuse me. I am banged up in a city office 5 days a week. I have a reasonable sense of family priority at the weekends. In my book 50 caches in 6 months under these circumstances is worthy of suitable commemoration! After all, I've received running medals for far less effort...

So, last week, a "world traveller geocoin" took up residence in the top drawer of my office desk. To be precise, in the little plastic pot where I keep spare staples.

I've given the geocoin a suitably pompous title - "Tortoiseshell's 50th Find", to celebrate the 50th cache find (Crocodile Hill cache on the Great Orme).

I chose the "world traveller" coin as it was available cheaply from a UK geocaching outlet. It is also the only geocoin with a moving icon. If you look closely, you'll notice the globe on the icon spinning round!

I'm going to hang on to this one for the time being, rather than let it travel. I shall reveal the unique tracking number only to those geocachers whom I meet in person.
